TYW Explorer's - Group

Call of The Wild - Urban and Nature Exploration Activities around South Wales is all about being outdoors for Well-being and Mental Health, where activities and events will be run around The Vale of Glamorgan, and South Wales Coastline, Forest and the great outdoors for adventures in Urban Exploration across South Wales! Whether you're interested in historical buildings, abandoned sites, or hidden gems in the suburbs, foraging, bushcraft, tree identification, plant lift and nature - this group is for you.

Let's uncover the secrets of South Wales together, sharing our passion for discovering the unknown. Whether you're a seasoned nature explorer or just starting out, all are welcome to join us on our quests to delve into the unknown urban landscape of our region. Connect with like-minded individuals, learn new skills, and explore the urban and nature side of South Wales with us!

What is urban and nature exploration: it is a recreational activity in which people explore derelict urban structures such as abandoned sewers or underground railways, old ruined buildings, old churches, derelict or abandoned, it is learning how to find hidden gems and uncover history or discovery of forests, enjoying nature at it's finest.

Whether you're looking to be part of a new community grounded in appreciation for the simple things in life, you're eager to explore your local area and uncover history you never knew about before, or you're simply looking for a breath of fresh air, I want everyone to experience the benefits of the outdoors. We will also explore other nature activities including Bush-craft techniques, outdoor wilderness survival skills which will include a wide variety of different elements. It is about getting close to nature, building knowledge to enjoy our history and natural surroundings, we will also learn to understand the importance of sustainability and having respect for the environment.

I aim to host events that will cover all great things outdoors. From Urban Exploring, Fairy Garden Making, Foraging, Bushcraft, Forest Bathing, to Winter Beach Campfires. We will explore old buildings, outdoor nature and aim to use our natural surroundings to discover new things. Whether that is history, foraging for food, nature, art and crafts, or simple campfire cooking.

TYW Solo's - Group

The Solo Walkers is a friendly walking and hiking group perfect for our Silver-haired walkers - aimed at our Solo's who are looking to explore the beautiful landscapes of Wales while making new solo friends. The aim of this group is to build a community of walkers who are solo, living alone, have minimal friends or minimal social activities, or don't have friends who enjoy walking, or those who have partners, but don't walk either, and so are wishing to walk with others, it is also aimed for those in the age range of 50/60/70's+ so that we will also enjoy a more relaxed walk, with others for outdoor social events such as picnics, foraging, adventure tours, and day trips to local attractions. So put on your walking shoes and join us for some fun adventures in the great outdoors. Let's make memories together and create lasting solo friendships in the heart of Wales.

Most walks will generally be around 3-6 miles and rated at an easy to moderate level so we can enjoy leisurely strolls to enjoy the outdoors taking in the views and experiencing the beautiful scenery, there is something for all our solo's to enjoy!

The group is aimed at taking beautiful walks in the countryside primarily on Saturday's with a few summer midweek walks and summer evening strolls. I aim to keep walks at a nice easy to moderate pace and welcome everyone who considers themselves to be single/solo who enjoy being outdoors. All walks will have a midway stop for a nice break to enjoy, so please bring snacks or a picnic, along with plenty of water especially during summer months.

At the end of the walk, we can also finish up at a local hostelry for a drink and/or food which is optional for those who wish to do so, I will not be booking any tables, so will be totally as-hoc and dependant on availability. Please note - The emphasis is on having an enjoyable walk morning/afternoon or full day out, visiting interesting and beautiful places, meeting new people and making friends rather than conquering summits or getting to the end of the walk as quickly as possible.

Age Cymru - Group

In conjunction with Age Cymru, Trek Yourself Well is currently working with Age Cymru to build a local group around The Vale of Glamorgan. These walks are there for everyone to enjoy who wish to be part of a well-being community with Age Cymru .

These group walks are led by friendly, specially trained volunteers who will provide support and encouragement, and make sure no-one gets left behind and walks at a pace comfortable for them.

These walks are short and over easy terrain. They are open to everyone, but are especially aimed at those who are least active, they will primarily be in open spaces, country parks, green spaces with good paths with area's to sit and take a break.

Walking has many great benefits from strengthening your heart and lungs, strengthen your muscles, helps you maintain a healthy weight and it makes you happy.

I provide a safe, sociable and fun environment. Where you'll have a chance to make new friends, encourage each other, develop a network of supportive fellow walkers and discover new walks in and around your area.
